Get Involved
The Nā Waʻa Mauō Program has diverse opportunities to get involved in our efforts to care for our oceans, work with communities, and incorporate Native Hawaiian cultural knowledge, practice, and language into our ocean stewardship. The experiences of our Nā Kuhikuhina Aʻo Waʻa, waʻa studies programs, enables participants to learn of the different ways to use nā waʻa kaukahi (single-hull outrigger canoes) to work with our local communities to steward our marine environments.

Contribute to our Mission
E hoe waʻa kākou kekahi i kekahi, we paddle canoe together. The synchronized blend and movement between the paddlers moves the waʻa forward through any current. As Nā Waʻa Mauō continues to build and expand our efforts to implement more holistic and less invasive ocean stewardship practices rooted in Native Hawaiian culture and knowledge continued support from our ocean communities is needed. Donations attained from our community supporters will help implement our Nā Kuhikuhina Aʻo Waʻa, waʻa studies programs and events and further perpetuate the mission and vision of Nā Waʻa Mauō.
Vision: To nurture waʻa lifestyles to mālama ʻāina
Mission: To perpetuate the practices of our Kūpuna through the use of our native Hawaiian tools, language, and science to care for our oceans
