About the Event
The 2021 Nā Waʻa Mauō Community Workshops will begin Feb 2021 and will continue throughout the calender year on the third Sunday of the month. Our community workshops will introduce participants to our methods and current projects.
Participants will learn the art of Nā Kilo ʻĀina (environmental observations), Wahi Pana (place name) interpretations, and how to examine moʻolelo (Hawaiian stories), ʻoli (Hawaiian chants), and ʻōlelo noʻeau (Hawaiian proverbs) from a scientific and stewardship lens.
In addition, participants will learn how to implement the mechanics of Western Science data collection methods from a waʻa that relate to water properties, primary productivity, marine debris, and coral health.
Our goal is to engage our community in our current efforts to steward and care for our marine environment.
Nā Waʻa Mauō welcomes our community from keiki to kūpuna to join us during our community workdays.
